Dr. Shalini Low‑Nam leads a research group in the Departments of Chemistry and Physics at Purdue University focused on membrane biophysics and signaling in immune and tumor cells. Her lab combines single‑molecule fluorescence imaging, fast high‑resolution microscopy and immunology to dissect how membrane organization and dynamics control T‑cell activation, immune–tumor cell interactions and the mechanisms by which engineered cells such as CAR‑T recognize and eliminate their targets. This work places her group at the forefront of mechanobiology and signaling biology, providing quantitative tools and new insights to improve immunotherapies and cancer control strategies.
