Dr. Kevin Kit Parker is a Distinguished Professor of Bioengineering and Applied Physics at Harvard and is affiliated with the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Boston Children's Hospital. His laboratory, the Disease Biophysics Group, investigates cardiac cell biology and tissue engineering, traumatic brain injury, and biological applications of micro‑ and nanotechnologies. To understand mechanotransduction in the heart, his team uses advanced cellular and tissue engineering techniques to build custom‑designed cardiac myocytes and ventricular tissue constructs that serve as experimental preparations to study how the extracellular matrix and cytoskeleton regulate mechanochemical and mechanoelectrical signaling and activate genetic programs in the myocardium.
